Dr Ashwin Porwal

Dr Ashwin Porwal, proctologist & surgeon, is the founder of Healing Hands Clinic, India’s leading chain of speciality proctology clinics. He graduated from the prestigious B.J. Medical College, Pune. He completed his DNB in General Surgery and holds a Diploma in Proctology. Dr Porwal has dedicated his career to research and practice in Proctology and has been mentored by Dr Antonio Longo, world renowned colorectal surgeon and inventor of the MIPH and STARR surgeries. Dr Porwal performed the first STARR surgery for Chronic Constipation, in Maharashtra, and has currently performed the maximum number of this surgery in Asia. He introduced the Leonardo Laser in India for treating piles, fistula, fissure and varicose veins. He was also the first to perform P.O.P.S. surgery in India which is an excellent technique for female pelvic organ prolapse. Currently, Healing Hands Clinic performs the maximum number of Stapler Hemorhhoidopexies per month in Asia. Dr Porwal has formulated a non-surgical regimen for treatment of early piles, acute fissure and constipation called MCDPA. It is a combination of herbal medicines, diet counselling and physiotherapy. He has also devised his own technique called Dr Porwal’s DLPL (Distal Laser Proximal Ligation) for curing complicated and recurrent fistulas. Dr Porwal has presented a number of research papers at various international conferences. He regularly gives training in Proctology to surgeons and students from across India and overseas. Dr Porwal is also the chief mentor at Healing Hands Clinic, the only MUHS certified Training centre for Proctology.
