Pediatric Surgery
Dr Vishesh Dikshit completed his MBBS from Government Medical College, Calicut, Kerala after which he did his Post-graduate training in MS General Surgery followed by Super-specialization in Pediatric Surgery, both from Lokmanya Tilak Medical College, better known as Sion Hospital, Mumbai. Following the completion of his training he served as faculty and teacher for five years in the Department of Pediatric Surgery at Sion Hospital. During his tenure first as Lecturer and then as Associate Professor, he was actively involved in the management of a variety of Pediatric and Neonatal surgical diseases and constantly upgraded his skills especially in the field of Minimal Access Surgery.
Dr Dikshit has a vast experience in performing conventional and minimal access surgeries for a wide range of complex neonatal and paediatric diseases such as:
Hydrocephalus;
Neural tube defects- Encepahoceles, Meningomyeloceles, Sacral teratomas;
Soft tissue tumors;
Thoracic and Thoracoscopic surgeries- Empyema decortication, Lung cysts, Enteric duplication cysts, Neuroenteric cysts, Lobectomies, Esophageal atresia, Esophageal replacement surgeries, Congenital diaphragmatic hernias;
Laparotomy and Laparoscopic surgeries- Cardiomyotomies, Pyloromyotomies, Intestinal atresias, duplications and perforations, Malrotation, Biliary atresia, Abdominal cysts and tumors;
Laparoscopic Appendicectomy and Cholecystectomy
Anorectal malformations;
Hirschsprung’s disease;
Urological disorders and reconstruction like Pyeloplasties, Ureteric Reimplants and Hypospadias repair;
Minimal access urinary stone management;
Day care procedures like Hernia, Hydrocele, Circumscision;
Diagnostic and interventional Esophago-gastroscopies, Broncoscopies and Cysto-uretero-renoscopies.
His main areas of interest are Pediatric Minimal Access Surgeries (via Laparoscopy, Thoracoscopy and Genito-urinary-scopy); Pediatric Colorectal Diseases (Anorectal malformations and Hirschprung’s disease); Pediatric urinary stone disease.
As an active member of the Birth Defect Clinic at Sion Hospital, Mumbai, he was involved in the counselling and care of many couples who were diagnosed with fetal defects. He has a keen interest in clinical academics with over 50 publications in various international journals.
