Itching and rash in the genital area during pregnancy is quite common, but it should not be ignored, especially if the itching is severe or becoming unbearable. During pregnancy, hormonal changes, sweating, increased moisture, lowered local immunity, diabetes tendency, or vaginal infections can increase the chances of fungal infection and skin irritation. Common causes may include: • fungal infection (yeast infection/candidiasis), • heat rash or sweat rash, • allergic reaction to soaps/pads/undergarments, • vaginal infection, • increased discharge causing irritation, • diabetes-related fungal infection, • eczema or dermatitis. Typical fungal infection symptoms include: • intense itching, • redness, • white flaky rash, • burning sensation, • moisture in skin folds, • discomfort while walking or urinating, • whitish vaginal discharge in some cases. Since you are pregnant, self-medication should be avoided, especially steroid creams or random antifungal combinations without medical advice. Please follow these precautions immediately: • keep the area clean and dry, • avoid tight synthetic undergarments, • wear loose cotton clothing, • avoid scratching as much as possible, • avoid scented soaps/intimate washes, • change undergarments frequently if sweating, • avoid excessive sugar/junk food if possible, • maintain good hydration. You should consult a gynecologist or dermatologist because during pregnancy the treatment has to be selected carefully and safely. Usually, fungal infections in pregnancy can be treated safely with pregnancy-compatible topical medicines prescribed by a doctor. Please seek medical evaluation earlier if: • rash is spreading rapidly, • there is severe redness/swelling, • pain or burning while urinating, • foul-smelling discharge, • fever, • ulcers/blisters, • bleeding, • or uncontrolled diabetes. Regarding homeopathy, some pregnant women do seek supportive homeopathic treatment for recurrent fungal tendency, itching, and skin sensitivity, but medicines during pregnancy should only be taken under proper supervision after detailed evaluation. Since itching is severe in your case, proper examination is important rather than trying random over-the-counter creams. Most fungal infections improve well with correct treatment and hygiene care, so please do not worry excessively.
