Dr Prashant Chhajed

Dr. Prashant Chhajed received his medical doctorate from the University of Mumbai, India in 1998, he was a Fellow in the department of Respiratory Medicine at The Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney Australia, where he continued as a Fellow in thoracic medicine, and lung transplantation until 2002. After a short stay as a visiting researcher in the department of thoracic surgery at Chiba, University, in Japan, Dr. Chhajed was a Clinical and Research Consultant in pulmonary diseases at the University Hospital in Basel, Switzerland where he received the title of Privat Dozen in 2008, he returned to Mumbai India, where he is Director of the Institute of Pulmonology, Medical research & Development and Lung Care & Sleep Centre, Fortis Hiranandani Hospital and Consultant at Lilavati and Nanavati Hospitals, Mumbai. Dr. Chhajed continues to be faculty at the University Hospital Basel, Switzerland. Dr. Chhajed has published more than 110 scientific publications, peer-reviewed original research articles, numerous review articles, editorials and book chapters. He has presented numerous abstracts of his research at national and international meetings, and has received numerous awards for his research presentations. He is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians, and has been elected Treasurer of the Indian Association for Bronchology. He is also Secretary of the European Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology from 2006 to 2010 & Board member since 2010 up to date. He has been active in numerous national and international organizations, and has served on the program committee and the planning committee of the clinical problems assembly of the American Thoracic Society, and on the governing council of the Indian Association for Bronchology. Dr. Chhajed is a recognized expertise in all facets of bronchoscopy. He has also been an active clinical researcher in the area of asthma, obstructive lung disease and lung transplantation. He has been an invited lecturer at numerous national and international meetings, and he is a well recognized teacher and has been a faculty in numerous bronchoscopy workshops around the world.
