She has completed M.B.B.S from Dr. D.Y. Patil Medical College, Mumbai, (MUHS) and D.N.B in Ophthalmology from Shri Ganapati Netralaya (SGN), the largest tertiary eye care institute in western India. She has completed a long-term Surgical and Medical Fellowship in Vitreo Retina Surgery from SGN gaining expertise in handling the most complex of retinal complications and surgeries. She has completed hands-on course for Complex Retinal Surgeries in association with University Hospital Frankfurt, Goethe University, Germany. She has completed FRCS (UK), of the Royal College of Surgeons, Glasgow, UK. She is a Fellow of the prestigious International College of Ophthalmology, USA. Dr. Mariam was heading the Vitreo Retina Department in Vasan Eye Care, RJ prior to joining SevenHills Hospital. She has also worked as a Hon. Consultant, Vitreo Retina Surgery at SGN. Dr. Mariam is a co-inventor, along with fellow researchers of new retinal surgery technique, “Buckle With No Buckle” and has presented it at many reputed conferences.
