Dr Prabal Roy

Dr. Roy has worked full time in busy general surgical units of two of the largest hospitals in the region for the last 19 years. A considerable part of his experience has been in management of complex polytrauma, conventional gastrointestinal & peripheral vascular surgery. Minimal access surgery (MAS) is his area of special interest. He has performed over 12000 MAS procedures till date that include abdominal & thoracic operations. Apart from common laparoscopic operations, He routinely performs advanced procedures like small bowel & colonic laparoscopic surgery. He started one of the first centers of video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery in India. He has successfully carried out a wide variety of VATS (Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery) operations till date, namely mediastinoscopy, lung resections, decortication for empyema, thymectomy for both myasthenia & nonfunctional thymomas, lung volume reduction surgery, bullectomy etc. He has pioneered the role of single incision laparoscopic surgery in Northern India and has successfully carried out procedures like cholecystectomies, appendectomies & hernia surgeries - innovating the technique of transfacial umbilical multiport laparoscopy (TUMP).
