Dr U P Srinivasan

The Laser Gastroenterology Clinic (LGC) is headed by Dr. U.P.Srinivasan, Surgical Gastroenterologist. Dr.Srinivasan hails from Madurai and completed his degree in medicine from Madurai Medical College. His passion for surgery led him to do his masters at Coimbatore Medical College. During this period, his exposure to laparoscopy and skill (key-hole surgery) grew under the guidance of Prof. Harushi-osugi from Japan. Also an affinity for treating diseases of the gastro intestinal tract developed. He decided a super specialization in surgical gastro enterology would be his niche and turned his attention towards it. MCh Surgical Gastroenterology is a highly sought after degree with limited seats throughout the country. For an extremely diligent, goal-oriented and hard working professional like Dr.Srinivasan, it was a walk in the park. The surgical gastroenterology department in Madras Medical College under Prof Chandramohan ran a three-year program which Dr.Srinivasan completed with flying colors. During this time, he gained enormous exposure to all diseases of the gastro intestinal tract, benign and malignant. His attachment to the liver transplant unit at Stanley Medical College under Prof Surendran made him very proficient with liver and gall bladder diseases. Even at the liver transplantation unit, his skills with laparoscopy always came to the fore and he was often called in to do the complex procedures with laparoscopy. Procedures for Gastrointestinal Reflux Disease (GERD), Bile Duct Surgeries, Stomach and Colon Cancer were all managed by keyhole surgeries.
