Dr.S.Ayyappan has always had a passion for sports as well as medicine. He became the sports secretary and later was elected the general secretary of Madras Medical College. Dr.S.Ayyappan soon settled down to practicing Surgical Oncology as the requirement in that field was enormous. He completed his specialist surgical degree from the reputed Adyar Cancer Institute in 1996. He has rendered service to the Institute for more than a decade. In 2007 he started MADRAS CANCER CARE FOUNDATION to deliver comprehensive quality care to cancer afflicted. His devotion and commitment to his profession earned him the doctoral award in the field of cancer from TN Medical university in 2013. He also heads the Chennai Chapter of Oncologists and the DNB Surgical oncology education program at APOLLO HOSPITALS.
