Dr. Ashok Kumar Rana is a Surgeon and academician par excellence. He has vast experience of over 80,000 successful eye surgeries after his post graduation(MS)in Ophthalmology in the year 2005 after having completed his graduation from L.L.R.M., Meerut in 2000. He is a life member of the Delhi Ophthalmological Society, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, UP State Ophthalmological Society, MP State Ophthalmological Society, Indian Medical Association. His professional training includes the training in Cataract Services at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London. In 2005 he had a great fortune of being appointed as Consultant Ophthalmologist at Shri Sadguru Netra Chikitsalaya, Chitrakoot ( M.P.) and associated Orbis Paediatric Eye Care Centre, a project of NGO of United States of America. It was an enriching experience professionally & spiritually. He mastered some new surgical techniques in Cataract Surgery, Glaucoma Surgery, Cornea Transplant, Squint and Oculoplastic Surgery. He also perfected and modified some old techniques. Teaching junior ophthalmologist became a passion. He is blessed with skills, ability and a compassionate heart to help people. He had the opportunity to serve the community to the of his ability. He revolutionized the concept of community service by providing high-quality eye surgery at low cost to the masses. He was amongst the first to introduce a modified Topical Anesthesia to perform SICS. The large-scale surgical experience helped him to refine the surgeries of Phacoemulsification, MICS (Phakonit), Lasik, Squint, etc. Encouraged by his surgical results and the need for delivering highly specialized care to the patients, he directed his focus & efforts to Cataract & Refractive Surgery. He started Nidhi Eye Hospital, Agra and dedicated his time to service to all irrespective of the financial status of a patient, rich or poor – catering to two diverse segments of society and learning the art of meeting the needs of both. He has always strived to imbibe the practices of this noble profession for the continuous development and welfare of the healthcare sector.
