Dr. Shiva Kumar R is a consultant epileptologist & neurologist with 10+ years of experience in clinical medicine, medical research and medical education. He has been trained in internal medicine at Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences, Hubli, and Karnataka. He did his super specialty training in neurology at prestigious Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute of Medical Sciences & Technology (SCTIMST), Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. He also had special training in “Comprehensive Epilepsy Care” at Shri R Madhavan Nayar Center for Comprehensive Epilepsy Care, SCTIMST with adequate and extensive training in the fields of epilepsy like medical treatment, psychosocial intervention, presurgical evaluation of difficult to treat epilepsies, video-EEG, Intraoperative Electrocorticography, Sub-Dural strip/Grid Monitoring, cortical stimulation and mapping and surgery for refractory epilepsy. His contribution in peer-reviewed scientific publications and international journals has been promising. He has been actively involved in many national & international conferences held by renowned medical institutions in the field of neurosciences. He has contributed various book chapters on epilepsy and movement disorders. He had started the “Comprehensive Epilepsy Program” at the Chinmaya Superspeciality Hospital, Indiranagar. He is pursuing several research projects in epilepsy. He is currently the neurology services coordinator. He was a consultant at the prestigious Narayana Hrudayalaya, Indiranagar, Bangalore, for almost 5 years. During his tenure, he has distinguished himself through expert patient care, his characteristic clinical acumen, and professional leadership. He had established clinical facilities for the management of epilepsy, epilepsy monitoring unit, acute stroke care, movement & behavioral disorders, neuromuscular diseases and neuro-critical care.
