Dr. Tarun Kumar Saha is a Consultant Nephrologist at PACE Hospitals. He has nearly 20 years' post-DM experience, with expertise in IJ Catheterisation, Sub-Clavian Catheterisation, Graft and Native Kidney Biopsy, Intermittent Peripheral Dialysis (IPD), Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD), Automated Peritoneal Dialysis (APD), Haemodialysis, Sustained Low Efficiency Dialysis (SLED), Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), Tunnel Permcath insertion and Percutaneous CAPD Catheter insertion. Dr. Saha's academic qualifications include an MBBS degree from Nil Ratan Sirkar (NRS) Medical College & Hospital in 1987 followed by a MD (Internal Medicine) degree from PGIMER, Chandigarh in 1992, a DM superspeciality degree in Nephrology from PGIMER, Chandigarh in 1995 and a DNB (Medicine) in 1995. He also completed Steps I and II of the United States Medical Licenciating Examination (USMLE) and holds an Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certificate. Prior to his current post, Dr. Saha has practised at several hospitals in the country. Between April and October 2001 he was Consultant Nephrologist at Heritage Hospitals in Varanasi. He was responsible for starting the first Kidney Transplant Centre in eastern Uttar Pradesh. From 2001-2005 he was Senior Consultant Nephrologist at Apollo Hospitals, Bilaspur, where he introduced HD, CAPD & SLED, which benefited patients of Coal India Ltd. in remote villages of Bilaspur. From 2005-2010 he was Senior Consultant and Head of Nephrology at Kamineni Hospitals, Hyderabad. Dr. Saha has also been active on the academic front. He was Assistant Professor in Nephrology at Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad and at PGIMER, Chandigarh. He has been Thesis Guide to MD and DNB students as well as Chief of a Dialysis Technician Diploma course at Kamineni Hospitals, Hyderabad. Dr. Saha has done considerable research and many of these studies have been published in reputed journals and/or presented by him at conferences in India and internationally. He has been a Speaker at the Indian Society of Nephrology's regional conferences, and delivered several Guest Lectures on Prevention of Progression of Chronic Kidney Disease, Management of Acute Kidney Injury and Management of Chronic Kidney Disease at many IMA districts, Medical Institutes and state conferences. His articles on Prevention of Kidney Diseases, Diabetic Kidney Diseases, Pregnancy and Hypertension and Drug Induced Kidney Failure have been published in medical journals and many have appeared in newspapers and CME booklets. He has conducted several health camps and delivered health talks on Prevention of CKD and Diabetic Nephropathy.
