Dr Binod Samal, after completing MBBS degree from VSS Medical College, Sambalpur, Odisha, in 1988 and MS in general surgery from Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, Haryana, in 1993, started his career as a medical professional. He has over three decades of experience to his credit and is He is currently practising at New Life Surgery, A-206, Chander Vihar, IP Extension, Delhi.
He conducts liver, kidney, intestine, piles, fistula, hernia, stone, tumour, ovarian, breast, skin graft, burn and diabetic foot surgeries.
Following the MS, he went on to do junior registarship in surgery from Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in New Delhi.
He then completed his senior registrarship in burns and plastic as well as general surgery from RML from 1992 to 1997. In this time period, he treated a significant number of second and third degree burn, and trauma patients.
After parting ways with RML in 1998, he started practice as a consultant surgeon, therapeutic, laparoscopy, burns and reconstructive surgeon in East, Central and South Delhi, and Noida.
In 2007, he completed a surgical training course in HAL-RAR (haemorrhoidal artery ligation and recto anal repair) procedure from Ratandeep Surgical Hospital and Endoscopy Clinic, Ahmadabad.
He has also completed Master of Business Administration (International Business) from Sam Higginbottom Institute of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences, Prayagraj, in 2015.
He has a record of performing over 700-1,000 conventional surgeries in gastroenterology, urology, obstetric and other general surgeries per year.
He has also performed ore than 100 advanced laparoscopic surgeries such as hemicolectomies, fundoplications, rectopexies and bariatric surgeries, over 500 laparoscopic cholecystectomies, laparoscopic appendectomies, and over 100 laparoscopic gynaecological surgeries such as LAVH, ovarian cyst, ectopic gestations, etc; over thousands of primary excisions of burn grafting and burn care; and about 500 plastic surgeries, liposuctions, craniofacial surgeries, cleft lip surgeries, cleft palate surgeries, and hypospadias repair surgeries.
He also performs abdominal and thoracic trauma surgeries, orthopaedic and vascular injury surgeries, and surgeries for cardiothoracic and gastrointestinal injuries.
He has fellowships of the Odisha Council of Medical Education, the Delhi Medical Council, the Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India, the Association of Surgeons of India, the National Academy of Burns, India, the Asia-Pacific Hernia Society, Hernia Society of India, the Medical Council of India, Indian Medical Association, ATLS-India, etc. He regularly presents scientific papers at the annual conferences of these associations.
He is also a diagnostics and therapeutic laparoscopy (such as cholecystectomy, appendectomy), TLH, ovarian cyst and emergency ectopic pregnancies trainer.
He operates a trust, Sahyog Healthcare Research Foundation, under which, he wishes to provide quality healthcare services to the economically weaker section of the society, in Odisha and worldwide.
Working in this direction, his trust had signed a memorandum of understanding with the Odisha government for setting up of a medical college and hospital in Keonjhar on public-private partnership (PPP) model.
The Odisha government’s department of healthcare and family welfare and the Foundation had signed the MoU back in November 26, 2010.
In his own words, Dr Samal is dedicated to the cause of providing optimal healthcare facilities and support to as many as possible in a relaxed environment where he can treat every patient as if they were his family.
