Dr. Ajay. R. Kothari done his MBBS, DNB (Ortho) MNAMS (Ortho)(New Delhi) FISS (USA, Germany) Gold Medalist. He is a Consultant Spine Surgeon at Sancheti Hospital, Pune. Dr. Ajay Ramesh Kothari is a senior experienced and renowned spine surgeon. He did his medical graduation (MBBS) from Pune University. He stood first and attained distinction in all the four years of his graduation. He then went on to do post graduation from world reknowned and orthopaedic and spine hospital in India, Sancheti Institute for Orthopaedics and Rehabilitaion. He passed his DNB orthopaedics and stood first all over India and was awarded Dr. Balu Sankaran Gold Medal for the same. During his tenure at Sancheti Hospital, he got the best resident award. He got extensively trained in advanced spine management in Germany, USA, Netherlands. He did his spinal fellowship with Prof Henry Halm at Schon Klinik Neustadt, Prof Robert Phflugmacher Bonn University hospital, Germany, Dr. Behrooz Akbarania Sandiego, USA. He was awarded the prestigious SRS(Scoliosis Research Society, USA) traveling fellowship for the ear 2014 and visited two world renowned spine centers in the USA as a guest surgeon- Rady's children Hospital and Sharp Memorial Hospital. He has been elected as a Member of SRS (USA). Very few Indian surgeons have been elected for this prestigious post. He is also awarded with IGASS International Fellowship. He is also member of AO Spine (Swiss) Dr Kothari has performed over 2000 spine surgeries successfully. He is specially trained in spinal degenerative conditions (both cervical and Lumbar), revision spine surgeries, spinal deformities (Scoliosis and Kyphosis), Spinal Infections, spinal tumours and paediatric spine problems. He also specialises in MISS( Minimally Invasive Spine Surgeries) also know as key hole spine surgeries. He has been specially trained in microscopic decompressions. Dr. Ajay Kothari has also liking for Non operative treatment for spinal ailments. In last 4 years he has a data of 225 patients who were advised surgery elsewhere were treated successfully with advanced physiotherapy and Spinal injections (cervical and lumbar selective nerve root block, epidural injections, facet blocks, radio- frequency ablations Etc) Dr. Ajay Kothari firmly believes that there is a great scope of non-operative treatment in spinal conditions. almost 90- 95% patients can be treated non-operatively.
