The training at this centre was for 2 years (2010-12). Dr Sumit completed his MBBS and MS Ortho. degrees from Government Medical college, Jammu. After the completion he joined BYL Nair Hospital as Senior Resident in Mumbai. Thereafter, he joined Safdarjung hospital New Delhi as Senior Registrar where he spent 3 years and horned his skills in basic orthopaedic procedures traumas and Illizarov surgeries. After the completion of senior registrarship he joined Clinical Fellow Duchess of Kent Children Hospital, Hong Kong, where he was trained in paediatric orthopaedics. He has also been a clinical fellow at Korean University Medical Sciences, Guro Hospital, South Korea. Dr Sumit has drawn scores of patients not only from within the country but also from countries like Middle East, Iraq, Saudi, CIS countries, Afghanistan, Yemen and Maldives, Nigeria, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Europe USA and Canada. He is popular among the patients, doctors and international translators for carrying out the ethical practice as his patients call him humble and down to earth doctor. He is also popular for doing the most complicated-life-saving surgeries which have been rejected or neglected. This includes complicated joint replacement cases, where knees and hips are with complex coronal, sagittal plane deformities; Complex hip replacements, post traumatic hip reconstruction, dysplastic hips form a major chunk of his practice. In trauma he is doing cases which includes neglected trauma with pelvic fractures, crushed bone injuries, bone lengthening surgery via illizarov methodology. He has been treating Iraqi wounded soldiers with bomb blast injuries too.
