Dr Rajesh Swarnakar is a director & chief consultant – Respiratory, Critical care & Sleep medicine of Getwell Hospital and Research Institute, Nagpur. Dr Rajesh Swarnakar holds both postgraduate diploma & degree qualification in Respiratory Diseases. After graduating in medicine in 1989 from Indira Gandhi Medical College, Nagpur, Dr Rajesh Swarnakar completed a postgraduate diploma in chest diseases from Government Medical College, Nagpur in the year 1991. He has passed the National Board Examination (DNB) in respiratory conditions from the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS), New Delhi in 1996. He has been awarded a fellowship by American College of Chest Physician, FCCP (USA). He has worked as a consultant chest physician in WCL. Central Hospital, Sail’s Bhilai Steel Plant Hospital, Meenakshi Mission Hospital in Madurai and Suretech Apollo Hospital, Nagpur. One of the pioneers of non-invasive mechanical ventilation & Sleep Medicine in Nagpur, he is doing polysomnography (sleep study) routinely. A trained bronchoscopist and interventional pulmonologist, he also has a particular interest in managing asthma, COPD & pulmonary rehabilitation along with management of complicated empyemas with thoracoscopy. He has installed for the first time in central India exhaled nitric oxide measurement feno lab from Aerocrine Sweden to assess and monitor airway inflammation in bronchial asthma directly. Dr Rajesh Swarnakar is Hon Secretary of Indian Chest Society. Indian chest society is an apex body of association of chest physician in India and acts as the advocacy group to policies regarding diagnosis and management of respiratory diseases. Dr Swarnakar is the chest physician from Vidarbha to be elected to this coveted body. He has represented as the member of national delegation at European Respiratory Society meeting held in Vienna, Austria, September 2012. He has been recognized as university and national board guide for the postgraduate degree in respiratory medicine, DNB. He is a medical director of a centre for excellence in clinical research which is a research consulting and Site Facilitating Organization (SFO) with the corporate office in Nagpur. He is also director of AECRT (Academy of Ethical Clinical Research Training) the academy in central India which is involved in imparting training clinical research methodology and is accorded recognition by Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education (MSBTE). This facility works as a tertiary referral centre to deal with all diseases related to Lungs with state of the art Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery ( VATS ) on Lung.
