Dr Neelam Kler

Dr. Neelam Kler is regarded as one of the most eminent neonatologist in the world known for her pioneering work on neonatal intensive care and ventilation. During a career spanning three decades, Dr. Neelam Kler launched the department of neonatology at the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi which is one of the largest in the country and is presently holding the position of the Chairperson. As a result of her continuous efforts to improve infrastructure and provide quality care through evidence-based medicine, the survival of extremely tiny preterm babies (<1,000 gm) has increased to 90 percent and infection rates are down to 9.8 per 1,000 admissions. Dr. Neelam Kler was honored with the prestigious Padma Bhushan award in 2014 by the President of India for her remarkable services in medicine and neonatology. She is famed as the sole recipient of the prestigious award from the medical category.
