Dr. Poongodi MBBS, MRCPsych (UK), CCT in Child Psychiatry (UK) is a UK trained Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist (Manchester, UK) with 13 years of experience in various aspects of Psychiatry. She completed her extensive training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in Manchester following which she worked as a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist prior to her move to India in June 2017. She has successfully managed several hundreds of cases of ADHD, Autism, Behavioural difficulties, Learning difficulties, School Related Issues, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Dyslexia, Tics, Medically Unexplained Symptoms, Depression, Suicidal/Self-harm thoughts, Anxiety, Psychosomatic problems, Psychosis, Addiction, Sleep difficulties, Sibling rivalry, Gender Identity Disorder, Eating disorder, Personality disorder, Grief and Post-traumatic stress disorder. She provides counseling to improve self-esteem, confidence and school performance. She provides parenting guidance and support for behavioral problems in children. She has completed and presented various research projects at UK National Conferences including an extensive project on autism in children with Neurofibromatosis. She has had special training in Psychodynamic therapy, Family Therapy, CBT therapy, Webster Parental Training and ADOS assessment for autism in the UK. Dr. Poongodi has experience in both psychotherapeutic techniques and medication treatment options enable her to offer a holistic care. She believes in improving children’s emotional well-being by helping them cope better with challenging situations to boost their confidence and self-esteem as well as with appropriate guidance and support to parents.
