Dr. D. Kannan is one of the senior most surgeons with vast experience in the GI Surgery. He completed MBBS from Madras Medical College, Chennai in 1982,MS - General Surgery from Madras Medical College, Chennai in 1986 and MCh - Surgical Gastroenterology/G.I. Surgery from Madras Medical College, Chennai . He is an experienced laparoscopic surgeon too. His experience in the GI Surgery includes diseases of esophagus,stomach,colorectal and he has a special interest in Hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgeries. He has performed over 1000 pancreatic surgeries. He was a team member of the first liver transplant done at Govt.Stanley hospital. He has performed maximum cancer surgeries in the GI tract both open and laparoscopic . He is a member of Association of Surgeons of India, Indian society of Gastroenterology ,Association of minimal access surgeons of India and Indian association of Endocrine surgeons. He received the best doctor award as a best doctor by the Govt. Of Tamilnadu in 2015 and best doctor award by the Times group in Stalwarts category in 2018.
