Dr.Surender K Yachha is one of the leading doctors in the field of paediatric gastroenterology. He holds 30 years of extensive experience in the field of gastro-intestinal disorders, liver disorders and pancreatic disorders in infants and children. He has wide experience in performing endoscopic procedures (diagnostic and therapeutic) in infants and children. He has held different positions in the paediatric gastroenterology department through his career. He was the first to introduce a paediatric gastroenterology department in India with multidimensional growth in the field of patient referral, academics, research, training programs, he held high positions such as the Founder President of Indian Society of Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (ISPGHAN), Chairperson (National President) Pediatric Gastroenterology specialty of Indian Academy of Pediatrics etc. He set up the first post-doctoral certificate course aimed at paediatric gastroenterology for paediatricians (post MD) in the year 2000. He has taken India to the world map on several disorders and research aspects that are highlighted through his international research publications and 30 book chapters. He is also the recipient of 94 prestigious awards for his relentless efforts and contribution to healthcare services. His areas of expertise in paediatrics include- neonatal jaundice, celiac disease, constipation, abdominal pain , gastrointestinal bleeding, milk allergy, tuberculosis, extrahepatic portal venous obstruction, acute viral hepatitis and other esophageal disorders. He possesses expertise on liver disorders in infants and children and has experience in curing pancreatic disorders and portal hypertension. Before joining Sakra World Hospital, Dr. Yachha was the Professor and Head- Department of Pediatric Gastroenterology at Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow, India.
