He completed his basic medical education from Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences, Hubli and post-graduation from Dr. RP Center for Ophthalmic Sciences, AIIMS, New Delhi in 2003 and followed by senior residency in the Cornea and Refractive department until 2005. His main area of interest includes Cataract, Cornea & Refractive surgeries. His chief areas of interest include newer advances Phakic IOLs and Laser cataract surgery. He has published book chapters on Phacoemulsification, and has published extensively in various national and international journals. He has presented widely at various international conferences. He currently heads the department of Cornea and is the Medical Director of Dr. Rajkumar Eye Bank at Narayana Nethralaya, Bangalore. He has successfully completed 80,000 cataract surgeries, 10,000 corneal transplantations and 20,000 lasik (laser) procedures.
