Dr. Shayanth M is a qualified MD Psychiatrist from one the Country’s and Asia’s most reputed Institute: National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru. His vast area of expertise includes adult psychiatric problems, women’s mental health, mental health issues in persons with medical disorders, neuropsychiatric conditions, addiction medicine, psychiatric rehabilitation, adolescent and elderly mental health concerns. He has done Post-doctoral Fellowship in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry from NIMHANS. He has done his MD thesis dissertation on novel treatment modalities (transcranial direct current stimulation) to treat Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and also has carried out researches in the area of Schizophrenia, Suicide, Neuropsychiatry, Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, Maternal mental health, Palliative care, and Mental health issues in persons with Diabetes Mellitus etc.. He authored many chapters of various reputed books and has been editor of books on Depression in Diabetes Mellitus, and Grief in Palliative care. During his senior residency period, he has been part Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, Neuropsychiatry, Palliative care, Women’s mental health and schizophrenia team at NIMHANS. He excels both in pharmacological as well as psychotherapeutic approaches in the management of psychiatric problems.
