Dr. Sharmila Nayak; Consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist at People Tree Hospitals is a young dynamic Paediatrician with super-specialization in Pediatric and Adolescent Endocrinology and Diabetes. Her areas of interest include Disorders of growth including growth hormone deficiency, Thyroid Disorders, Pubertal Disorders, Childhood Obesity, Type – I Diabetes Mellitus, Calcium and Vitamin D disorders, Disorders of Sexual Differentiation and Endocrine problems in children on Chemotherapy and those associated with systemic illnesses. After completing her undergraduate from Father Muller Medical College, Mangalore she pursued post graduation from Manipal Hospitals, Bangalore. Thereafter she chased her dream of Paediatric Endocrinology by completing the fellowship in Pediatric & Adolescent Endocrinology at Manipal Hospital, Bangalore. Adding to her academic achievements she has completed a Certificate course in management of Thyroid disorders under Public Health Foundation of India and Fellowship in Applied Nutrition. Dr. Sharmila is committed to providing the best healthcare treatment for children. A child-friendly doctor, she considers it a privilege to be caring for children's health and well being. Apart from her clinical work,she also dedicates time for community based preventive child health in the form of health education for school children and their parents.She has delivered various talks on health educational awareness including those on child nutrition,prevention of childhood obesity, adolescent health and menstrual hygiene.She has worked passionately on Prevention of Lifestyle Disorders in children and is an active member of the KidsTree Lifestyle Clinic recently launched at PeopleTree Hospitals.The Pediatric Nutrition and Healthy Lifestyle clinic will provide consultation and ongoing care to children with the Obesity or at risk for obesity, Growth failure, Lifestyle-related high-cholesterol, pre-diabetes, fatty liver disease, Behavioral problems and Screen addiction.
