Dr. Indu Nair is a senior consultant Pediatrician & Neonatologist at Sakra World Hospital, Bangalore. She has more than 18 years of experience in the field of pediatrics and more than 9 years in the field of Neonatology and has been associated as a consultant Neonatologist with Manipal Hospital for over 4 years. She has also initiated the NICU services at Motherhood Hospital in Bangalore. She graduated from Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute, Chennai and did her DCH from the prestigious Institute of Child Health, Madras Medical College. Later she did her DNB in pediatrics from Baptist Hospital in Bangalore and worked for a short period at St. Johns Hospital, Bangalore. She has a Fellowship in NICU from AIMS a Deemed University. In the field of Neonatology, She has expertise in the care of preterm babies as small as 500 Gms and is trained in pressure, volume and high-frequency ventilation and nitic oxide therapy. She is also trained in post-surgical intensive care management of neonates like the congenital diaphragmatic hernia, intestinal malrotation to name a few. She is skilled in screening ECHO and neuro sonogram in neonates. She is skilled in providing initial resuscitation and neonatal care to newborns during delivery. She has handled various challenging cases both in NICU &PICU. A child-friendly Pediatrician she aims at providing a holistic approach to the management of childhood illness like allergy and wheezy disorders, infectious diseases like dengue fever, nutritional management of children, growth, and development and adolescent care. Academic excellence: Her academic pursuits have seen her active participation in formulating the “NNF Clinical Practice Guidelines''– “Management of feeding in low birth weight infants” 2010, published by the National Neonatology Forum. She has been contributing research and review articles in “Perinatology” on “Perinatal Infections” an indexed journal, and has also authored a manual on “Nutritional Management of Preterms/lbw Infants- a Case-based Approach''. Authored a chapter “Assessing Body Temperature” In “Manual Of Newborn Nursing” published by IAP Neonatology Chapter. She has done clinical research in the “Role of KMC in Reducing Pain in Neonates”. As a member of NNF and IAP, she has been a guest speaker at various conferences and is actively involved in nursing education and training of fellowship students. Having worked in both academic institutions and corporate hospitals, she aims to provide comprehensive Neonatal care and academic excellence at Sakra Hospital. She is available for both general pediatrics and Neonatology.
