Dr. Kumar J. Doctor is a Chief Medical Director of Doctor Eye Institute established in 1964.
Dr. Kumar J. Doctor is known as a renowned ophthalmologist, recognized for his expertise in the areas of Refractive & Cataract Surgery. He regularly conducts video Instruction Courses presents Free Papers, Posters and Videos on Cataract and Lasik in many national and international conferences. He is a member of ASCRS, ESCRS, AIOS, and AIIS etc.
He has done live multiple demonstrations in Cataract Surgery and Lasik Surgery. He has demonstrated Live surgery at Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, SAARC Conference in Colombo Hospital-Sri Lanka and made multiple presentations All over India including Apollo Hospital- New Delhi, Arvind Eye Hospital- Madurai, L V Prasad Hospital-Hyderabad, Rotary Eye Hospital-Navsari, and also at various conferences in Delhi, Patna, Chennai, Bangalore, Indore, Lucknow, Allahbad, Guwahati, Baroda, Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Uttaranchal, Dehradun etc. Dr. Kumar has also presented several films and videos showing the innovative surgery techniques and case presentations winning several awards for the same.
Designed an International LASIK Training Programme
At our Smiling Eyes Laser Centre. This programme is intended to support the successful integration of Laser Techniques using Schwind Technologies into the clinical practice of LASIK Surgeons. We have successfully trained eminent surgeons from Egypt, Austria, Kuwait, Jordan and Germany for LASIK.
International Conferences conducted
Dr. Kumar J. Doctor has successfully organized and conducted 3 international conferences to showcase the newest developments in the field of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. The conferences were attended by renowned International, National and Local Ophthalmologists which offered an excellent opportunity to enhance experience and share their knowledge.
Dr. Kumar is on the Advisory Panel in Abbott Medical Optics for IOL designs and material and NOVARTIS for the Genteal study.

• Honored with the All India Implant and Refractive Society Daljit Singh’s Gold Medal Award on 27th September 2002, presented by then Chief Minister of Maharashtra,
Shri Vilasrao Deshmukh, for his contribution in the field of Refractive Surgery
• Received an award by Dr. R N Mishra, the president of IIRSI for his dedicated service to Ophthalmology for prevention and control of blindness.
• Recently received Best Academic Private Practitioner Award in the silver jubilee conference of MOS ( Maharashtra Ophthalmic Society) in Nov. 2005
• He is honored with the prestigious award of “ Best Innovations in Ophthalmology” at 27th Annual Conference of Maharashtra Ophthalmological Society held at Solapur in
October 2007
• He won the Best Video Award for ‘Slit Lamp Assisted Cataract Surgery’ at 28th Annual Conference of MOS (Maharashtra Ophthalmic Society) held in October 2008 at
Aurangabad.
• Most recently Dr. Kumar Doctor won the trophy as the Captain of his team of 5 prominent Ophthalmologists from India in Ophthalmic Premier League held at IIRSI meet in
Delhi in September 2009.
• In October 2010, Dr. Kumar Doctor was honored with Gold Medal for excellence in Ophthalmology at NZOS & UTTARAEYECON – 2010 held at Mussorie.
• At MOSCON held in October 2011 at Pune, Dr. Kumar Doctor was honoured with the ‘V.K.Chitnis Oration Award’ and he delivered "Presby LASIK in Pseudophakics" during the
Award session. This is the first series reported in the world. This is the highest honour conferred on an Ophthalmologist by Maharashtra State Ophthalmic Society.

• At American Cataract and Refractive Society’s Congress (ASCRS) held in April 2010 at Boston, Dr. Kumar’s presented Poster on “Intraoperative Online Pachymetry in LASIK
with Wavefront-Guided Ablation” which was selected in ‘INTRAOCULAR POSTERS OF SPECIAL INTERESTS CATEGORY” and was listed in the FIRST 10 POSTERS submitted
worldwide in THE BEST POSTER’S category.
• At American Cataract and Refractive Society’s Congress (ASCRS) held in March, 2011at San Diego, Dr. Kumar Doctor’s Poster on Lasik Technology won the 2nd Best prize and
Honorable Mention in Keratorefractive category. Total 325 posters were submitted at the congress from ophthalmologists all around the world. Only 2 prizes are given in
each category
• Most recently in 2014 Dr. Kumar received Gold Medal as President of IIRSI (2013-14) for his contribution in Refractive Ophthalmic Practice.
• DR. KUMAR DOCTOR received the BEST ENTERTAINER award for his video presentation at Ophthalmic Premier League at APAO 2015 held at Guangzhou , China in April 2015
