A CT scan is usually done in a hospital or imaging Centre. The steps include:
1. Preparation
You may be asked to remove metal objects, change into a gown, and follow instructions about eating or drinking if contrast dye will be used.
2. Positioning
You lie down on a movable table that slides into the CT scanner, a large, ring-shaped machine.
3. Scanning
The table moves slowly as the scanner rotates around you, taking X-ray images from different angles. You must lie still during the scan.
4. Contrast Dye (if used)
Contrast may be given through an IV, orally, or both, depending on the area being scanned. This helps certain tissues or vessels show up more clearly.
5. Completion
Once the scan is finished, usually in 10–30 minutes, you can usually go home.

● You can usually resume normal activities right after the scan.
● Drink plenty of fluids if contrast dye was used to help flush it out of your body.
