Pathologists look at this sample under a microscope to find out whether cells are normal, inflamed, infected, cancerous, or showing other disease changes. Biopsies are one of the most reliable ways to diagnose many health conditions, including cancer, infections, autoimmune disorders, and organ diseases.

There are several kinds of biopsy techniques depending on what part of the body must be tested:

• Fine-needle aspiration: A very thin needle is used to collect cells.
• Skin biopsy: Small pieces of skin are removed to examine skin conditions.
• Endoscopic biopsy: A flexible tube with a camera guides the sample from inside organs.
• Surgical biopsy: A small operation to take a larger tissue sample when needed.
• Bone marrow biopsy: A sample from inside large bones is taken to check for marrow or blood diseases.
Each method is chosen to match the part of the body being tested and what the doctor needs to find out.
1. Consultation & Planning:
Your doctor will review your symptoms, imaging tests, and medical history to decide the best biopsy type.
2. Preparation:
Depending on the biopsy, you may need to avoid food, drink, or certain medications before the procedure.
3. During the Procedure:
A local anesthetic is often used to numb the site. A small sample is taken using a needle, a special tool, an endoscope, or by making a small incision when needed.
4. Sample Analysis:
The tissue sample is sent to a lab where a pathologist examines it under a microscope to look for abnormal cells.
5. Results & Follow-Up:
