Dr. Vikram Lotwala is the pioneer laparoscopic and bariatric surgeon in south Gujarat. He is the first surgeon to establish and perform bariatric surgery in Surat region in year 2008. 1st fellow in bariatric (obesity) surgery in Asia- pacific region, 1st bariatric surgeon in south Gujarat, 1st bariatric surgeon to perform laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (year 2008), 1st bariatric surgeon to perform intragastric balloon procedure (year 2014), 1st obesity awareness patient support group “nlightenclub” in south Gujarat was established in April, 2014 to educate about obesity and educate people about various ways to tackle weight issues.
