Dr. Nitin P. Ghonge. MBBS, MD, DNB [Radiology], FICR, FIMSA. Abdominal Imaging Fellowship [Asan Medical Center, Seoul, South Korea]. Consultant Radiologist & Ultrasonologist. He is highly qualified and trained Radiologist working as Consultant at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, New Delhi, India. His areas of special interest and expertise include Abdominal Imaging, Vascular studies, and Imaging in Fetal and Reproductive Medicine. He has post-qualification work experience of 15 years and has previously worked at several premiere academic institutions including All India Institute of Medical Sciences [AIIMS] and Diwanchand Satyapal Aggarwal Imaging Research Centre, KG Marg, New Delhi. Apart from expertise in Ultrasound-Doppler, he is proficient in multiple imaging modalities including X-rays, Mammography, CT, MRI, DEXA, Nuclear medicine, PET-CT, PET-MRI and Interventional Radiology. Apart from Clinical Radiology, he is actively involved in Radiology education and research. He conducts regular “Radiology Resident’s ‘Hot-seat’ review courses” at Apollo Hospital, New Delhi; for post-graduate exam-going students, which is attended by Doctors from all over North India. He has delivered more than 75 invited scientific presentations at several national and international Radiology conferences. He has more than 35 research publications to his credit in Radiology and non-Radiology scientific journals. He also has 3 book chapters to his credit. He serves on the editorial board of several apex journals in the field of Radiology & Imaging including Radiology (Radiological Society of North America), British Journal of Radiology, Srilanka Journal of Radiology, Indian Journal of Radiology & Imaging and Apollo Medicine. Most importantly, he believes in the concept of ‘Evidence-based Medicine’ and truly practices ‘Evidence-based’ approach to prompt disease diagnosis & effective patient counseling/education. He firmly emphasizes on “Patient-Centric Approach and Problem-Solving Attitude” in Clinical Radiology, where scanning a patient is not just another scan to look at the areas of interest. It is, in fact, judicious use of scanning methods to find an exact solution to the clinical problem. This essentially needs correlation with clinical history/laboratory investigations and comparison with previous scans to maximize the useful information from the imaging studies including an ultrasound scan. He believes in prudent, ethical and comprehensive use of imaging technology to find the exact cause of patient’s symptom and understand the disease process, so as to ensure efficient healthcare delivery for the suffering patient.
