Dr Dattaprasanna R. Kulkarni

Dr. D. R. Kulkarni is a consultant hpb surgeon practicing in mumbai, india over last 15 years. He earned his medical degree from mumbai university and began his surgical career at b. Y. L.Nair municipal hospital, mumbai. After post-graduation in general surgery, dr. Kulkarni worked in the capacity of lecturer with the same department and then proceeded for advanced training in hpb surgery and liver transplantation to hong kong and later to paris. He trained at two of the best hpb units in the world (queen mary hospital, hong kong & paul brousse hospital, paris, france) in the field of liver & pancreatic surgery & liver transplantation. Both departments are tertiary referral centres for hepatopancreatobiliary malignancy & liver transplantation and have pioneered various operative techniques & treatment protocols for management of hepatocellular cancer and metastatic colorectal / neuroendocrine tumors. Dr. Kulkarni specialises in various liver & pancreatic resections (hepatectomy / pancreatectomy) including complex, multivisceral resections with or without vascular reconstruction. He is specialised in the treatment of hepatocellular cancer, metastatic liver tumors (especially colorectal cancer) neuroendocrine tumour (net), pancreatic cancer, gall bladder / bile duct cancer, cystic tumour of liver & pancreas, bile duct injury / stricture, acute or chronic pancreatitis & other complex diseases of liver / gall bladder / pancreas. He has further specialised in hepatectomy techniques for giant liver tumors, liver resection after portal vein embolization / angio-embolization / chemotherapy, redo surgery, radiofrequency ablation (rfa) of liver tumors etcetera. He is trained in cadaveric and living donor liver transplantation. Dr. Kulkarni is attached to lilavati hospital & research centre, bandra, mumbai & performs all his surgeries here.
