He is a nationally renowned surgeon, who has been associated with more than 4,000 plus adult and pediatric cardiac procedures. He has been included in the list of very few surgeons in the country, who are experts in performing cutting-edge adult as well as pediatric heart surgeries. He has had the honor of performing a few of nation’s and world’s first cardiac surgeries. He is passionate about improving the longevity of patients afflicted with high-risk, complex cardiac & vascular conditions. He has the distinction of becoming one of the ever surgeon in the world to perform an Awake Cardiac Surgery (A unique type of Heart Surgery during which the patient remains completely conscious and the heartbeat will be stopped for hours without using ventilator) on a patient with a rare ‘Bombay Blood Group’ (The Bombay blood group has been identified in only about 179 people in the world). He is, in fact, the surgeon, who introduced an atypical and complex operation to the world – it was performed on a patient who had both rheumatic and congenital heart disease. He founded two of the well-known Cardiac Surgical Departments in Bangalore and worked in close association with globally renowned cardiac surgeons in Bangalore. He also holds a record of operating on both a husband and wife together on the same day, in a rare surgical scenario of high-risk cardiac disease. He has operated some of the very high-risk patients with high success rate. His special expertise includes Off-Pump Beating Heart CABG, Awake Heart Surgery, Paediatric Surgery, Valve Repairs along with replacements and Vascular surgery
