Dr. Brij B Agarwal is a laparoscopic and general surgeon, presently Vice-Chairman of the Department of General & Laparoscopic Surgery, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi, India. He is currently President-Elect 2017, Association of Surgeons of India, Delhi. He completed his MBBS (1978) from Maulana Azad Medical College, University of Delhi. He did his Masters (MS) in Surgery in 1987 from University of Delhi. He has worked at most leading institutions including All India Institute of Medical Sciences, PGIMER & Dr. RML Hospital, Lady Hardinge Medical College, and MAMC. He trained in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery, the most prestigious Royal Infirmary of Hull, England. He is credited as being the first surgeon to develop advanced laparoscopic techniques like Safe gallbladder surgery, Scarless endoscopic breast surgery & Robotic Surgery for pancreatic diseases including cancer. He is the first surgeon in Asia to do Stapler surgeries for large piles and prolapse of bowel from the back. He represents Asia Pacific Region on SLS (Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons of America). He has received the National award from the Association of Surgeons of India for doing the first in world Robotic pancreatic surgery without any cut. He was given the award for best surgeon, Delhi State for the year 2015.
