ATo reduce bring down HbA1C strictly avoiding sweets, avoiding high carbohydrate diet and regular exercise (walking for at least 30 minutes daily) are important. White rice to be substituted with millets to the extent possible. Control of BP, Cholesterol along with control of blood sugar, avoiding stress and ensuring good sleep, would help the blockage in the heart vessel from becoming worse. Sugar alone is not the culprit. Lifestyle changes, reducing body weight if obese and suitable anti-diabetic drugs, if strictly followed can bring about a near reversal of diabetes and its complications in the early stages.
