Dr Prakash Obalappa

Dr. Prakash Obalappa is graduated in Medicine from Bangalore Medical College. He trained further in ENT and Head & Neck Surgery (MS) from Command Hospital, Bangalore. Major Prakash subsequently trained in Otology at Vikram Hospital, Coimbatore and later at Command Hospital, Pune. After his postgraduation Major Prakash was offered the post of a Graded Specialist in ENT in INDIAN ARMY (Army Medical Corps). He served in various military hospitals in India treating armed personnel and their families. He has been a lead consultant and Head of the Department in ENT and Head and Neck Surgery at Sri Narayani Hospital & Research Centre, Vellore. As the head of unit, he has been actively involved in expansion of the department and is currently one of the busiest units in Vellore. He has also taken part in community ENT projects like rural medical camps, rehabilitation camps for hearing impaired (hearing aids to the poor/economically backward people). He takes innovative approaches within the frameworks of evidence based practices to meet patients individual needs and tailor the care package to their circumstances. He has special interests in Otology and Paediatric Otology and Paediatric Airway. Professional Expertise: General and Paediatric Otology including Stapes surgeries, Endoscopic Nasal Surgeries including FESS and Dacrocystorhinostomy (DCR), Thyroid surgeries, Coblation Tonsil surgeries, Surgeries for Snoring and Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndromes.
