Dr Fareed Oomer

Dr. Fareed has completed his MD from PGIMER, Chandigarh, where he has worked extensively with patients suffering from various mental disorders. He has experience in treating patients with common mental disorders such as psychosis, depression, bipolar affective disorder and anxiety in all age groups and varying severity. He has treated patients with psychosis, ranging from depression with psychotic symptoms, acute and transient psychotic disorders to chronic psychotic illness such as schizophrenia. Along with prescribing medications for mental illness, he focuses on providing a comprehensive psychosocial approach to helping the patients. He has several hours of experience in administering evidence-based psychotherapies such as exposure and response prevention therapy for OCD, habit reversal therapy for trichotillomania, marital therapy, supportive psychotherapy and treating psychosexual problems and eating disorders. Having been part of a major center for de-addiction, he has worked closely with patients battling opioid, alcohol, cannabis, nicotine and other substances, effectively treating withdrawal states as well. Working in an institute of national importance that caters to patients requiring rare procedures such as liver, renal, bone marrow transplantation, he is equipped to provide care and support to patients in helping them make informed decisions. He is also experienced in providing medications to patients with comorbid physical problems.
