Dr. Antony Robert Charles is a Pediatric Surgeon & Pediatric Urologist who is currently practicing in Bangalore. For over a decade, he has been focusing on Pediatric and neonatal care as well as emergency cases concerning Pediatric Trauma. His specific area of interest is in Neonatal Surgery and Pediatric Urology. Dr. Antony Robert Charles has received advanced training in Pediatric Surgery at the renowned AIIMS in Delhi, after which he practiced at St. John’s Medical College, in Bangalore where he was an Associate Professor. Following this, he went overseas and was a Fellow at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead in Sydney, Australia - receiving his training in Laparoscopy and Urology at this institution. As a result, he is also an expert in Minimally Invasive Laparoscopic procedures in children. He is available for consultation at Columbia Asia Hospitals, Hebbal and also in Yeshwantpura to cover emergency cases. His commitment to bringing advanced and expert care to children is clear from the accolades he has received in this field - the Lorimer Dodd - Excellence in Surgical Teaching Award by the University of Sydney for 2 consecutive years. His commitment to his profession caused him to be at the forefront of relief activities, leading a medical team in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands following the Tsunami. He has an active interest in ethical issues especially related to prenatal care and long-term care of children and the protection of child rights. As an active Pediatric Surgeon, Dr. Antony has authored many publications in peer-reviewed journals; and contributed chapters in the textbook Pediatric Surgery, edited by Dr. DK Gupta, New Delhi. He has also has co-written a chapter in the textbook of Pediatric Nephrology.
