Interventional Cardiology
Dr. Pranab Bhattacharyya is an interventional cardiologist based in Guwahati who advises patients on the most appropriate therapies to treat and to prevent progression of cardiac disease. There are many patients who come for a regular routine checkup on a background of multiple cardiovascular risk factors (such as smoking, hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol, or a family history of heart disease) or emergency patients with chest pain, syncope, heart failure who were diagnosed with a serious cardiac condition. These patients were very lucky to receive the right treatment and advice varying from simple medical therapy all the way to Angioplasty, stenting, pacemaker, ICD, CRT-D/P implantation to closure of congenital heart defects (’hole in the heart’), balloon dilatation of stenosed valves and blocked peripheral arteries (limb arteries, arteries supplying the kidneys; etc.,) He also provides appropriate advice to patients for open heart surgery depending on the type and severity of the disease when necessary. Dr. Bhattacharyya is delighted to continue helping the local community by providing his special services. Currently, he is Associate Professor, Department of Cardiology, Gauhati Medical College and Hospital, Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Assam. He is a Senior Interventional Cardiologist in the City of Guwahati in Assam, North East India. His areas of proficiency include : Coronary Angiography, Coronary Angioplasty & Stenting, Primary Angioplasty for Acute Heart attack, Complex angioplasties, Pacemaker implantation, ICD, CRT-D/P implantation, Balloon Mitral valvotomy, Balloon Pulmonary valvotomy, Device closure of Congenital heart defects (ASD, PDA), Peripheral Angiography & stenting (Renal, Aortic, Iliac, subclavian) & treatment of rare diseases (Takayasu's arteritis, Ruptured sinus of Valsalva etc.).
He is regularly available for Patient consultation for all types of Heart diseases with facilities for Echocardiography, ECG, TMT, and Holter monitoring. He provides Emergency Services 24X7 for complete heart block requiring pacemaker implantation and Primary Angioplasty for Acute Myocardial Infarction (Heart Attack).
